Remember to dress your turkey so that no one will be able to figure out that it is the Thanksgiving dinner turkey.

Thanksgiving Projects
Friday your child will have a sheet with directions for projects to complete and share. Each child only picks 1 project to complete and share with the class by November 15th.

Conferences
Thank you all for attending our first grade conferences! The kids are doing a marvelous job. We enjoyed talking with everyone about how wonderful the kids in our classes are. Thank you for your time, support,  and hard work.

Portfolios
We would like to create a portfolio that is easier for parents to store. If you would send a 3 ring binder to school, we will organize your child's writing for the year. The binders should be 2.5 or 3  inches wide. The binders should also have a clear pocket on the front for the students to slip in a title page. (Most binders have a clear cover.)
Red Ribbon Week
October 22-25

We have lots of fun activities this week to help the children understand that using drugs and/or alcohol will interfere with reaching their dreams and will also hurt their health.

Monday: Some first graders volunteered to make posters. You are welcome to walk around the school and read the children's thoughts. Students also wore red today and took home pledges for parents to sign.

Tuesday: Your child can wear crazy shoes or socks to school.

Wednesday: Wear your favorite sport team's jersey.

Thursday: Wear camouflage

Friday:  Crazy hair or hat day.

This Week's Spotlight!

Education Go Get It Week!

This week will we spend a lot of time talking about higher education. Please spend some time talking with your children about your colleges days, or any educational plan you took after high school. Each day this week we will have an activity for every student to participate in.

School is closed Monday, October 8th, in honor of Columbus Day.

Picture retakes will happen on October 17th.

Red Ribbon Week is scheduled for October 22nd. During this time we encourage kids to stay healthy and stay drug free. Clutch will visit our campus this week to excite the students about living healthy.

October 25th and 26th the students will be dismissed at 12 o'clock so that teachers can conference with parents about report cards. We will be sending Sign-up Genius out this week so that you can sign up for a time that best suites your schedule. During conferences we are on a very tight schedule. We must see all 23 or 24 parents on these two afternoons. In order to help our conferences run smoothly please:
            1. Be on time. Someone is scheduled before you and right after you so we
will not be able to let you stay past your time.
            2. Please silence your cell phone.
            3. Have questions ready just in case we do not cover everything you want
                 to know about.

October 29th. report cards go home. Please take out all papers in the report card envelope. They are yours and the papers stay at home. Please sign the first line on the envelope and return the report card envelope to school. It will be used every nine weeks.
